Memories in the Making

Hello, everyone! I’m so excited to share some fun news with you! Monica has branched out to do crops and events up in Virginia, and we are very excited for her. With all of the new things that have happened over the summer, we have lots of things to tell you about.

There will be some new faces around our crop circle. Joining Memories in the Making is Judy Woodard. Judy has been crafting since she was a kid. She was the second Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator in Lexington County back in the mid 1990’s. She had a great time with that career but left it to start her own specialty advertising business. She has been scrapbooking for a long time, but until February 2011 had never been to a crop. She came to our crop in February and immediately fell back in love with scrapbooking. Judy and her husband Tripp have owned their paint contracting business since 1987. They have two daughters and are now empty nesters. Judy was looking for a new business opportunity and she and I are both thrilled that she will be joining Memories in the Making!

We will be having a “Getting to know you” crop on January 27^th and 28^th at St Martin in the Fields church in Columbia. Times will be Friday 9 am till midnight, and Saturday 9 am till 11 pm. Cost for 2 days is $65, or 1 day for $35. We will be changing our menu for this event. We will be serving garden salad, sub or deli sandwiches, and chicken salad for lunches on Friday and Saturday, and dinner will be on your own. We will of course continue to have snacks and drinks throughout the day. As always, if there are any particular dietary needs, please let us know ahead of time. Sign up is available at our blog immediately. All crop fees are due by January 16th. Email or call to reserve your spot!

Refer a friend – Bring a new friend (someone that has not attended one of our crops before, and when they sign up, make sure they give us your name as the person that referred them) and both of you will receive a $5 credit at the scrapbook store. How can you beat that? Bring a buddy, and get free goodies!

Let us know if you would be interested in a “Projects with the Cricut” class taught by Honey Comer. There would be an additional charge for this class.

Hello, Ladies!! We are super excited to announce that we are going back to Myrtle Beach October 13th - 16th! We’re also going to be offering a 4 or 3 day retreat option. What is included? Lunch Thursday, Breakfast and lunch Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Snacks and drinks, your hotel room for the amount of nights you’re staying, 6 ft of table space per person, goody bags… do I need to go on? Put it all together, an amazing time! Oh, and did I mention we’re staying right on the beach?? We'll be at the Grande Shores Resort!

It's a Frosted crop!

Frosted February

We hope everyone has been enjoying all of the snow that we’ve had, and are getting ready to scrap those fun snow pictures! To help with that, we’re having a frosted party! We are so excited to bring everyone together for another crop! We will be at our favorite Scrapbooking Haven, St. Martin in the Fields on Clemson Avenue in Columbia on February 11th and 12th. As always, our hours will be 9 am till midnight on Friday, and 9 am till 11 pm on Saturday. The cost is $65 for both days, and 35 for one day. Lunch and dinner will be served on both Friday and Saturday, and of course we will have plenty of snacks and drinks for everyone. Each cropper gets 6 feet of crop space, so that you can spread out and really get creative! Memories in the Making will be there for all of your scrapbook supply needs, along with new lines that will be perfect for your holiday and snow pictures! Charleston Retreat April 15-17, 2011

Ladies, we received such a great response from the last email about this retreat that half our spaces are already reserved. Thank you!

This retreat will be at the St. Christopher's Camp and Conference Center on Seabrook Island. Your crop includes: croppin from 9am. Friday- 1pm. Sunday, 2 night lodging, 5 meals, 6 ft.of table space, snacks & drinks, goodie bag, prizes, and more.

All for $225 (based on dbl. occ.) additional night's lodging is $89 and you can start cropping Thursday evening.

Deposit of $55 is due no later than Jan.10, 2011

Hello Ladies! You’re invited to our November Croppin In Columbia and Memories in the Making Birthday bash! Can you believe it’s been a whole year since Monica and I joined with Croppin In Columbia? Well, we’re celebrating! We’re going to have Demos with the Cricut Cake, a Holiday Market (with new vendors adding all the time!), a Sidewalk sale at our scrapbook store, and lots of prizes! Nan will be making the fabulous food she’s famous for, and we’ll have lots of cake! We’ll be having a Sidewalk sale, a Scrappy Yard Sale on Saturday, and all kinds of other surprises!

Our charity this time will be The Nurturing Center in Columbia, SC. We will be adopting a family with them, and will be posting and emailing information about the sizes and needs as soon as we get the information. We’re so excited to get to do this! Last year, so many of you asked about doing this, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity.

Operation Write Home

Operation Write Home (OWH) sends hand-made cards to deployed troops, so they can send them to their loved ones. The good news is that OWH is on track to double the number of cards they sent last year for the holidays. The only down-side to that is that they are going to need double the shipping funds to send all of those cards overseas. Cathy will be at the September 18th crop making cards for troops. If you have an extra few bucks, consider a donation for shipping.

By the way, there will be extra card-making supplies, so consider making a card to donate to OWH.

Hi! Wow, it has been a LONG summer! Monica Moved, we've both had lots of family time, and we just got home from CHA! We're getting ready for our September crop (September 17-18th), and wanted to show you some sneak peaks of our products! We've ordered from SEI, American Craft, Pink Paisley, Fancy Pants, Jillibean Soup, Maya Road, Crate Paper, and Kaiser, just to name some! I think the UPS man and I are going to be on a first name basis soon - orders are already coming in! Can't wait!
In the pictures are Jillibean's Pasta Fagioli, Pink Paisley's Old School, and part of the Fancy Pants Christmas line.Oh, and did I mention the Pink Paisley Ink Resist line? Wow, it's amazing! Shannon's hubby graduated yesterday from USC (Clemson fans: please don't hold that against us) and my hubby took a job in Washington DC so we've been back and forth house hunting. Palmetto Health Richland Childrens Hospital!

Well, I'm late posting this, but better late than never, right? Our Cupcake Crop charity was the Children's Hospital. And wow, did everyone pull out all the stops! I packed everything into 3 boxes and two bags (it took quite a bit of organizing to make it fit! But I had to get it into my trunk, so it had to be done! :-) My children and I took everything down to the Hospital, and the loved giving the toys and money that we had collected to the ladies there. They were so excited to get it! Thank you again, everyone, for how amazing you all are. Every time we have done a charity, our croppers have really gone the extra mile to take care of them. We're so thankful to have such an awesome group! Thank you again!

How my Garden Grows!

Welcome to our April How my Garden Grows crop by Memories in the Making and Croppin in Columbia! We have a ton of goodies in store for you!

Our theme this time is How My Garden Grows. We will be having mini classes on lots of Scrappy topics, things that we all need brush ups on occasionally by lots of “Masters”: Journaling, Multi picture layouts, and Making the most out of your paper. We will also have Cricut Classes and a Gypsy class taught by the talented “Master Gardner” Honey Comer. Not all gardens are made of greens, and we have TONS of things blooming for this awesome event! Some great Make n takes, great prizes, New Products, and just wait till you see the goody bag!

We're Back!

Hi, and it’s so great to be back! We’re home from our Winter Kisses retreat in Myrtle Beach, and it was such an amazing weekend! We had a wonderful time, made great friendships, and “kisses” all around! It was such a fun way to celebrate Monica’s Birthday, and an even better excuse to have lots of chocolate! Especially the Chocolate fountain… mmmm….. Okay, so now that I’m having withdrawals, here is our other news

Cupcake Crop and Cricut Swarm!

Hello, Ladies! Well, we can’t believe it’s already the end of February, and that the Cupcake Crop is only a few weeks away! Memories in the Making and Croppin in Columbia have been working hard to bring you our first THREE DAY crop! Can you believe it? We’ve had several of you ask, and it’s finally here! We’re announcing the charity for this time: We are going to be taking donations for the Palmetto Health Richland Children’s Hospital. They have a Wish List :

Again, as normal, for every donation you bring, you will get a ticket into the Donation Drawing for a very fun grand prize. You won’t want to miss it!!

The crop is March 12-14th, and the prices are: $40 for one day, 70 for two days, and 100 for three days. And can you believe the location? The Columbiana Grande shopping center on Bower Parkway (Off of Harbison Blvd). We will be in the section by Lane Bryant. There will be signs to let you know you’re in the right place! I am so excited! Our first retreat is sold out. I think we even sold our seats. Even up to yesterday we had people asking if we could fit one more. Thank you to all that are joing us. We are planning our upcoming events and trying to make them even better. We had a package from American Crafts today with tons of prizes and give aways. I like giving stuff away and Shannon usually has to hold me back because I get so excited. But I just love to see the happy faces of the winners. New Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels and Heidi Swapp. We should have all the new colors any day now. We do have 3 new shades in 1oz. bottles for sale now. Email us if you want one now.

Pink Paisley was Monica's favorite. We ordered some really cool ribbon and papers from them. We ordered this new 6x12 in albums, lots of buzz online about them. I can't wait to play with it.

New French company and we have the paper in stock for Stamp Scrap Art Tour. All papers are double sided and vibrant colors. Some have the look of ripped out notebook paper but in the same tone on tone vibrant shades. Also great for travel pages.

Maya Road has really cool Maya Mist. For those of you that like Glimmer Mist but want full covererage, their mist is great. 2 sprays cover grey chipboard. We ordered about 10 new shades. We also ordered a few mini albums

Shannon and Monica are off to California for the CHA winter Show in Anaheim. It's where we get to see all the new scrapbook, stamping, and crafting for the first time. It's time for the first crop of the New Year! Economic Recovery Crop Jan.8-9,2010
Friday 9 am- midnight Saturday 9 am-11pm The crop and shop is open to all. If you can't join in on the crop, you can still shop with our many vendors and take classes.
Friday starting @ 2pm: Shannon's Coupon Class- learn how to maximize your grocery savings. The class is $5 and includes a starter kit.
Saturday 10-4: Cathy's card class- free if you donate 1 card to her charity: just bring your scraps
Saturday 2pm: Honey's Creating with Cricut Class $20 regularly $30. Just bring Cricut and 4 sheets of cardstock( discounted if you buy them at Memories in the Making booth)
Massages available after dinner: $5 for 10 minutes: proceeds donated to ONE WARM COAT
Coat Drive : ONE WARM COAT: They need large black trash bags, sugar, as well as coats, sweaters, jackets, hats, pants for Men , Women, and children

Swap Table:
Do you have craft items you don't use or have a sticker sheet that you just used one off of? Well bring them to our Swap Table. Leave one Take one.
If you have something you would like to sell: put price tag on it with your name. The cash exchange will be between you and the person buying it.
If the item is too expensive to put out, place a index card on table with description of item, price and your name & number. If the person wants to buy it, they can take the index card to you and make the purchase.

Crop is just 10 days away

Happy Holidays to all of you! We hope that you’ve been enjoying this time of year as much as we have! As a gift to you, We have decided to extend the $45 crop fee till Dec 31, 2009. After that the price goes up $5 more dollars. If you haven't signed up for the Economic Recovery Crop, please don't delay. We have received request from people who want to sit with their Scrapfriends that haven't signed up yet. We have several things in store for our Crop weekend that you're sure to enjoy, and there are new products arriving just for the crop. So if you can't crop with us, you can always come to shop at the many vendors. Oh, and did we mention that Economic recovery doesn’t necessarily mean “No Frills”, so come and see some of the great surprises we have in store for you! We have some amazing classes that will be going on!

Shannon Smith will be teaching a couponing workshop, and the cost is only $5. (Plus you get coupons to get you started!)

Honey Comer will be teaching a CREATING WITH CRICUT class Sat Jan. 9 at 2pm. Learn how to get the most out of your Cricut with the Cricut class by making a page layout.$20 for class/ regular price is $30 so you will have to bring 4 pieces of cardstock ( all class attendee will get 20% their paper at Memories in the Making booth). Cathy Brooks will be teaching a card class, how to make your scraps be all they can be! Bring your scrap bins, and make some cards! The only fee for this class is a completed card for the troops.

Spotlight Charity: One Warm Coat ,we will be doing a coat drive at this crop, so don’t forget to bring in any gently worn coats, jackets, sweaters, etc. you have!

Economic Crop Update

The calls are coming in and I'm so glad y'all are signing up for the crop. We started out wanting a "Low Frills" no fuss crop but it seems like everyday, Shannon and I are adding more. Winter Kisses on the Beach -Feb. 19-21, 2010 Non Stop Cropping
3 days, 2 nights of Scrapbooking delight! Packages starting at 200 per person, including room, crop space (Plenty of it!), Breakfast each morning, heavy, hearty snacks each day, and beverages. $75 deposit due on registration, and we need you to register by January 1st so that we make sure we have enough rooms! We are limited to 30 croppers for this, but we will have a table to ourselves, and you won’t believe just how great this place is. You can literally drive up to the crop space to unload, with luggage carts there to move your things to your table. Our accommodations are located on the same floor as the space we are cropping in, so absolute convenience! Dinner is on our own, but with so many restaurants in the area, even one on site, we thought it would be better to let you have your choice.(Optional Dinner Plan available) Oh, and did I mention that there is a fridge and microwave in each room, and many have kitchenettes?
Our times are Friday, 9am till Sunday, 2pm. Here is the pricing:
4 in a room: 200 per person
3 in a room: 210 per person
2 in a room: 220 per person
Single Occupancy: 230 per person
Suites with full kitchen, 2 rooms (2 queen beds each) and 2 bathrooms, 230/person.
Ladies, there is an ocean view from every single room. If you want to take a break from cropping, we are directly on the beach, so simply walk out back. Tapped out? Spent your wad? Need a break after the holidays? Come and De-Stress at our Economic Recovery Low Frills crop. Don’t let the title fool you, though. We’re still going to have a great crop, with lots of great Vendors, Prizes, Classes, Make n Takes, and to help you stretch your dollars even more, there will be a couponing class (for a small fee) with coupons included! Oh, and to help rub those cares away, there will be a masseuse on hand, with proceeds going to a local charity.
We have a few different projects going on this time. We will be having a coat drive, so bring those gently used coats that are cluttering your closet, all kinds (kids too) to help local families in need.
We will also be having a card technique class for a cause. Cathy Brooks is an amazingly talented crafter who has been very involved in Operation Write Home. Here is a link to their website. http://www.operationwritehome.org/
It is a wonderful program. We know that lots of us have bins full of scraps that many times we never get around to using. Bring your scrap bins, and join us for this amazing class and let Cathy show you how you can help your scraps be the best they can be!
I know, the mind reels that we’re not done yet! By special request from many of you, we are having a Swap n Shop! We’ll be sending out more details of this very soon!
Okay, so here comes the money talk. This crop includes Dinner, Hors devoirs, snacks, and drinks. The total cost is $45. Friday and Saturday, from 9 am to 11 pm. $25 deposit is due upon registration.
Early registration is encouraged! There will be a $5 charge after December 26th. Full payment is requested no later than January 1st.

This weekend I cropped with some friends and met new ones. We had a great time and got a lot of feedback on what everyone wants out of a crop. I hope you take our survey so we can make this crop the best we can. Also we are expecting orders to be rolling in this week. Yayayya! Come see what fun the elves have in store for you this year! When? Friday and Saturday, November 6th and 7th. Where? St. Martin of the Fields. Cost is $35 for one day or $65 for both days. And what would a Croppin in Columbia crop be without amazing food? Lunch and Dinner will be served both Friday and Saturday. We have all kinds of surprises in store, and lots of vendors will be there to help you with your holiday shopping! Memories in the Making will be there, selling some of the latest and greatest from some of your favorite companies!
Along with this crop we are doing a toy drive for Toys for Tots. For each unwrapped toy you bring, you will get an extra ticket for the big door prize. Help us bring some holiday cheer to children in need, and have a great time while we’re at it!
